In photo shop, I opened the fire layer as the background then placed the sand picture on top as a new layer. I duplicated both of those layers and sandwiched the two sand layers between the two fire layers. we turned down the opacity of the first sand layer so you could see the fire through the glass. then on the second sand layer cut out the sand using the quick selection tool and deleted everything else so the hourglass would be transparent and the sand would not. with the sand selected we used the modify tool to constrain and feather the edges. then I turned down the opacity of the top fire layer to give it a reflective look.
